My apartment needs decorating, but we can’t paint the walls?

We just moved into an apartment.. its not very big… and the landlord says that we can’t paint the walls. As of right now, its pretty boring looking. Just wondering what I can do to the walls to make them less bland. Decor, wall hangings, anything at all… I’m not very good with interior design, so any website with pictures would help tons! Thanks!
